I remember watching Ashlee Simpson’s short lived reality show The Ashlee Simpson Show and loving her black nail polish, thinking she was such a rebel so naturally I went out and bought black nail polish. This was all the time when Avril Lavigne was rocking the black nails, thick black eyeliner and singing sk8er boi with her board straight hair. Needless to say my parents and most of the kids at school totally judged me and thought I was about to take a walk on the wild side and become super emo-eccentric. Ohhh 2000’s you seem like just yesterday I was anxiously waiting for the newest episode of The O.C. to come on each week (season 4 was totally not the same after Marissa died).
Black is not just for the emo crowd, the rebels or the gothics, black has always and will always be the chic-est color on the color wheel (yes I’m aware that black is not actually on the color wheel). I’m not quite sure why when I was younger it was almost frowned upon to want to wear all black, fast forward to today and it’s no big deal, was it because I was so young and now that I’m in my twenties it’s acceptable or have times changed? Am I crazy or has anyone else experience this growing up?
After wearing my quilted slip-ons in a previous post and getting an overwhelming response I was inspired to do an all black must have feature. Mix and match all of my favorites to add a little edge and badass into your fall wardrobe.
My number one is obvi my number one fav pick of the group and I cannot wait to wear the moto jacket I scored during the NSale this summer….it’s literally the most perfect faux leather jacket, it’s not cheap feeling like I’ve found a lot of faux leather to be.
