The excitement of Spring’s arrival comes from the long wait of finally stripping those winter layers and wearing lightweight garments that can only be pulled off in the warmer temperatures. But the thing about this season is that it can often leave us a little confused, in a fashion limbo if you will. Is it warm enough to wear a dress without tights? Would my faux fur coat look out of place? There are loads of style questions that fill our minds, though perhaps we’re more concerned with the boots that we strutted in all winter long, so we ask ourselves, are my tall and over-the-knee boots no longer seasonally appropriate?
As Meghan Blalock of Who What Wear explains, “There’s a misconception that sometimes makes the rounds this time of year, one that supposes boots are something you should only wear during colder months of the year.” Although the very nature of boots are tailored to keep your legs and feet warm, the reality is that they can be styled in various ways, making them wardrobe staples versatile enough to wear throughout the year.
There are dozens of boot styles to go around as shown on the popular fashion platform, Lyst, from ankle to thigh-highs, but here we’ll take a look at how can wear your OTKs this season:
For your flat-shaped, light color boots…
Annie Georgia Greenberg of Refinery29 suggests that you go for a somewhat equestrian look with a button-down, a blazer and light jeans, which can be switched with black denim if you need a work outfit.
For your chunky-heeled boots…
Greenberg adds that these can easily be paired with a sleek dress for a slightly rocker ‘60s vibe or something casual, such as jeans and a tee.
For your low-heeled black boots…
Wear them with a breezy dress. Celebrity stylist Marina Monroe shares that it’s best to keep it light and simple for this kind of pairing. Think a white dress and a black purse to match the boots.
I think I’m going to revamp this boho look with a pair of otk boots for Spring, very Coachella ready!
