Can we all agree that gingham and this yellow bicycle are a perfect combination for spring? Yes, I’ll answer for y’all 😉
I have story that goes along with this day…it’s only funny now that I look back on it because at the time it was actually pretty terrible. I’ll forewarn you now, it’s kind of ramble but there are a few funny parts but if you just want the deets on the outfit just scroll on down to the bottom!
Ok let me just fill you in on a few things, so for like ever I’ve been wanting to get a bike. I have owned a bike in my lifetime but honestly I have no clue what happened to it. Summers would come and go and I kept telling myself, ” Taylor this is the year, you’re going to do it, you’re going to let your inner 5 year old self talk you into buying a bike.” It never happened. I always had a friend who had an extra bike that was their moms or a siblings so it always worked out. I honestly never really had the time during college between studying, working and everything else I had going on. After I graduated I moved back in with my parents and my mom and I kept saying we were going to get bikes and go riding together at night….yeah well something always came up and before we knew it it was fall and our dreams were frozen.
It wasn’t until just a few weeks that I become the proud owner of two wheels! And it’s actually not even this bike. This banana babe belongs to my mom. My bike is blue, don’t worry y’all will be seeing it soon! At last we both finally followed through and now have wheels funny thing is I don’t live at home anymore, as y’all know I live with Brian. Not to ramble on but the house that Brian and I live in is literally in the neighborhood like a mile or so down the rode from my parents (the area of town I live on is awesome) so we can still have out mother-daughter bike rides 🙂
Ok so now fast forward to the day I attempted to ride….I literally almost died. Not literally but literally figuratively. I had been sick and having allergy issues but I’m the type of person that unless I’m too weak to get up I’m not staying in bed and it’s a long shot that I’ll take medicine, I just let my body heal on it’s own. I know, I’m weird. So this day was absolutely perfect, the weather was the right temperature, not too hot not too cold, the sun was out and more importantly I had been itching to wear these gingham shorts that I got like 2 months ago so I was bound and determined that I was going to get out and enjoy the day. I loaded up my bike and headed to my parents. As soon as I got out of the car I started sneezing and it would not stop. If I had a dollar for overtime I sneezed I could afford the LV I mentioned in yesterdays post. I was beyond annoyed but asked my mom to try and get some cute pictures of me with her bike since it was all set to go (I didn’t feel like unloading mine since I knew the bike ride plan was dead). I didn’t want to waste a cute outfit…sure I could have just reshot the look which in hindsight I should have done because I was absolutely miserable. Emma (my little pug) was trying to comfort me (isn’t it weird how animals have a sense when someone doesn’t feel well?) I tried to play around with her, I even tried to put her in the basket, it semi was a good idea until my sneezing started scaring her. My step dad was more concerned with Emma being uncomfortable and scared that he was telling me to let her go (seriously if any of y’all know him, I think he loves the dogs and especially Emma more than any of us) haha. I had to abandon the hope that this was not the perfect day I set out for. What started out as a day of mother-daughter bonding quickly turned into a nightmare and I ended up dead sick for the next few days.
The photos I have are a miracle were all caught in a matter of like 5 minutes and it’s a miracle that I’m not mid sneeze in all of them!
Seriously though, these shorts! I found them at Old Navy and nearly pushed a girl down in front of me to get to them. I wanted the matching top, it had buttons all down the back, it was so cute but they didn’t have it in my size. The shorts on their own are amazing! The only thing I will say I wished were different is if they had pockets. Not that I ever use pockets but I like to have them. I took a page from the smurfs, again, and wore this light weight sweater. I love being able to wear a sweater or a light weight blazer with shorts!
These Chucks are literally my new favorite sneaker! I know y’all are probably thinking, girl you are like years behind the curve. The thing about it is, I’ve owned probably 5 pairs of Converse in all different colors but every time I buy them I end up just giving them to my sister, for one they’re way more her everyday style and they were always so uncomfortable. I tend to stick to New Balance or Nikes. Well, a month or so ago my precious little mother and I were out shopping and she picked up a pair, tried them on and bought them. I stood in disbelief, like what are you doing mom. I took a closer look and these Chuck Taylors and they were different than any pair I’ve owned before. There’s more support in them and they’re slip on. They have an elastic back which is actually comfortable, they don’t rub funny in the back and I personally think they look super cute with their untied look! So yeah, I copied my mom!
Sorry for such a long post but I couldn’t share these pictures and not fill y’all in on the background!
I hope y’all have an awesome weekend!
